The story of Glowee began not with technology, but with a quiet drawing on a fridge. Minh, a single father who often worked night shifts, found a crayon sketch one morning — a small lamp, with two tiny stick figures reaching out to it. Underneath, his daughter had written: “When the lamp is on, I think of you.”
That morning, Minh sat in silence, holding the paper. Then a thought arrived, quiet but strong:
“Can a simple light be a bridge between hearts — even across cities, even in silence?”
That was the spark for Glowee — a pair of touch-activated lamps, connected across distance, lighting up together with every gentle tap.
Built for love, not likes
Minh worked with two friends — a hardware engineer and a preschool teacher — to make the first prototypes. The goal: no screens, no noise, just soft, wordless connection. Each lamp glowed with warm colors that could be customized to mean different things: “I’m okay”, “I miss you”, or simply, “You’re in my thoughts”.
Then one evening, a message came:
“My son taps it every night before bed. He says, ‘Now mom knows I’m dreaming of her.’”
That one message lit up our team. Glowee wasn’t just a device. It was presence, made visible.
Today and Tomorrow: Lights that speak love
Today, Glowee lamps quietly glow in homes, hospital rooms, college dorms, and long-distance relationships.
Our wall is filled with moments:
A little girl tapping the lamp before school while dad works offshore
Grandparents smiling as their lamp lights up in sync with a grandchild’s bedtime tap
Two siblings separated by cities, still lighting each other’s day
Every month, 5% of profits go to “One Light, One Bond” — a program gifting Glowee lamps to families with members in the military, hospitals, or distant care facilities.
Etched gently at the base of each lamp is this message:
“I’m here — even when I’m not there.”
